Pep media filters operate using a proprietary medium sieved and polished to provide consistent, accurate particulate removal from a flow source. The primary liquid filtration method is similar over PEP’s several filter designs. Liquid enters above the media then flows down and through the filter bed and out a lower drainage system. While the systems can be manual, PEP’s forte is automated, self-cleaning, pre-packaged, skid-mounted filtration systems.
Contaminants are trapped between the individual beads of media as the liquid travels through. A specific media is selected to supply dependable, consistent levels of particulate removal. The pressure differential across the media increases as the void spaces are filled with dirt. A backwash is initiated once the differential pressure reaches a preset level. The valves are reversed, and the liquid flows upward and out of the vessel, ferrying trapped contaminants with it to the drain. The length of the backwash operation depends on the type of filter in use. The valves move back to the forward flow (filtration) mode when the backwash is complete.
